Brahmagiri Trek is one of the most popular treks in Kerala and Karnataka. The trek is inside the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, bordering the two states and is inhabited by large herds of elephants. At an altitude of 1608 m, Brahmagiri peak is an ideal trek for the first time trekkers and for those who enjoy the leisurely paced hikes surrounded by natural beauty of the forest and wildlife.

The Western Ghats is a walker’s paradise taking you through the rainforests and national parks, along spice and tea trails to hill towns and villages, with breathtaking views all around. Against the backdrop is the Brahmagiri peak inside the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary with rich flora and fauna. Wildlife esp. wild elephants could be spotted during the trek. The trail passes through dense forest, lush green grasslands, river streams and waterfalls (Iruppu Falls). The trek starts from Thirunelly early in the morning and for a reasonably fit trekker takes around 5-7 hours to ascend and descend.

Itinerary

Day 1 / Wayanad
Drive to Wayanad. Check into the resort. Explore the forest – safari (optional). Dinner accompanied with bonfire.
Day 2 / Brahmagiri Peak : 5-7 hours
Drive to Thirunelly Forest Guest house, the starting point of Brahmagiri trek at 6:30 am. After a quick breakfast, start walking at 7:30 am. After descending from the peak. Have lunch and drive back to Bangalore.
