VISITING THE POPULAR TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
The most popular destinations would be Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg. Weaving your itineraries around these cities would give you a flavour of Kashmir. Within each of these cities there are many place to visit and things to do that would define the duration of your travel.

Places to Visit in Srinagar: Dal Lake, Nehru Park, Floating Post Office, Shankaracharya Hill Temple, Jama Masjid, Tomb of Zain-ul-Abidin’s mother, Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, Chashme Shahi, Pari Mahal and Hari Parbat Fort.
Places to Visit in Gulmarg: Maharani Temple, Ziarat of Baba Reshi, Khilanmarg, Apharwat peak, and Strawberry Valley.
Places to Visit in Sonamarg: Thajiwas Glacier, Manasbal Lake, Ganderbal, Khir-Bhawani temple, and Narang Temple.
Places to Visit in Pahalgam: Lidder River & Amusement Park, Deer Park & Zoo, Mamleshwar Temple, Betaab Valley, Sheshnag Lake, Aru Village, Matrand Sun Temple, Saffron fields, and Anantnag Sulphur Springs.

STAYING IN THE HOUSEBOATS AND RIDE IN THE SHIKARAS
Riding in the Shikara in the Dal Lake or Nigeen Lake in Srinagar is an experience one can get only in Kashmir. Another experience unique to this place is staying in the houseboats on the lake, sleeping while watching the night sky and listening to the water of the lake pushing against the houseboat.

HERITAGE WALK IN OLD SRINAGAR
Taking a stroll in the old part of Srinagar is the best way to soak in the ambience of the place. There are century old structures, lanes and alleys, eateries and restaurants, each having a story of its own. One would also observe the unique architecture that is influenced by three different styles and religions. One would discover the old markets selling spices, dry fruits, threads and more.

INDULGING YOURSELF IN THE LOCAL KASHMIRI CUISINE
While the most popular ones from the Kashmiri cuisine are the Kashmiri Kahwa (tea) and Lamb Mutton Rogan Josh. But the there are many more delicious dishes. These include Nadroo Yakhni (yogurt based Kashmiri curry with lotus stems), Paneer Chaman (fried paneer simmered in tomato sauce and flavored with spices and fennel seeds powder), Dum Aloo, Matschgand (minced meatballs cooked in spicy red gravy), and Gushtaba (minced mutton cooked in flavorful yogurt gravy and spices). While in Kashmir eat like a local.

SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING
Gulmarg is one of the best ski resorts in Asia. But more than being a ski resort, there are many other things that can be done in Gulmarg such as – playing Golf at the sprawling Golf Course, ride the Godola cable car, learn to ski and if you know how to ski already then go higher in the cable car till Mount Apharwat and ski down from there.
Pahalgam and Sonamarg are the other two places where multiple snow activities happen in the winters.

TREKKING
A place as beautiful and scenic as Kashmir is bound to have many trails for short and multi-day trekking crossing hills and mountains, green meadows, forests and lakes. There are many high altitude alpine lakes in Kashmir, such as Vishansar Lake, Tarsar Lake, Gadsar Lake, Alpather Lake, and Satsar Lake.
In fact the most popular trek here is the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek that covers many of these in its route.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
What is better than exploring and experiencing the green valleys, snow-capped mountains, gushing rivers and still-clear lakes on a bike. Yes, all this is possible in Kashmir. The popular cycling routes include Srinagar to Sonamarg, Sonamarg to Manasbal lake, Srinagar to Gulmarg, Gulmarg to Pahalgam, and Pahalgam to Srinagar. And if you want to meet the mighty Himalayas, take the Srinagar – Leh highway route that goes through ten mountain passes.
White River Rafting:
The Lidder River in Pahalgam is the site for White Water River Rafting in Kashmir. From easy to moderate rapids, it is indeed quite a thrilling experience.
Paragliding options are available in Sonamarg, Gulmarg, Bhaderwah, Sanasar, and Harwan (Srinagar). Of these, paragliding in Harwan is most easily accessible as it lies on the route of the tour of the Grand Mughal Gardens.
Valleys of Suru and Zanskar are the popular spots in Jammu for enjoying hot air balloon rides. The ride takes to a height of around 3,000 feet and lasts for about 2 hours. Winter months are the best time to experience this activity.
Paragliding and Hot Air Ballooning:
With the plethora of scenic vistas in Kashmir an aerial view is just an amazing experience. And add that with some adventure and presto you have paragliding and hot air ballooning options.

PLAYING GOLF
Kashmir has some stunning Golf Courses nestled amidst the beautiful scenic beauty. The top two are in Pahalgam and in Gulmarg. If you are a passionate Golfer you should just travel to Kashmir to tee off here.

EXPLORING THE WILDLIFE
There are some amazing National Parks here with rich flora and fauna. These ate Dachigam National Park (22 km from Srinagar), Kazinag National Park (Baramulla District), Salim Ali National Park (Srinagar), Kishtwar National Park (Kishtwar District).
Snow leopard, musk deer, brown bear, Marmot, red fox, Himalayan black bear, golden eagles, Monal pheasants, and griffon vultures are some of the rare species that are found in this region. You can also go bird watching at one of the 24 wetlands in Jammu and Kashmir where over 500 different species of bird find a home.

AMARNATH CAVE AND VAISHNODEVI TEMPLE
Amarnath Cave and Vaishnodevi are considered to be one of the most sacred places for the Hindus. In the months of July-August, many Hindu devotes from across the country come here for the pilgrimage.
The Amarnath Yatra is done to worship the ice stalagmite Shivalinga. It is said that Lord Shiva explained the secret of life and eternity to Goddess Parvati.
The Vaishno Devi Yatra is a pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi. The Trikuta mountain, where the shrine is located, has one base but three different peaks. A similar structure is seen inside the cave. The three heads are said to be of Kali, Lakshmi and Saraswati – the three Hindu goddesses.
