Punjab is a state in North India with Pakistan bordering to its West. The state is the heart of the Sikh community. This culture is the highlight of any travel experience to the state, be it the temples and the gurudwaras, be it the warm hospitable nature of the people, be it celebrating various festivals with the typical Punjabi music and dance, be it the amazingly delicious cuisine or be it discovering the history of the place yourself.
Historically, Punjab was also the frontline region of India that faced invasions from Central Asia. Owing to that fact the region has developed a unique blend of culture influenced by the invaders and the locals.

CHANDIGARH
Chandigarh is the capital of two states – Punjab and Haryana. This city is usually the gateway into the state. A well-planned and modern city (designed by the French architect Le Corbusier), Chandigarh also has many paces to visit and many attractions to experience.
Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali: On the outskirts of the city is one of beautiful cricket stadiums in the world, witness to many historical cricket matches. It is worth the effort to visit the stadium.

Places To Visit: The Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake, Morni Hills, Rose Garden, Le Corbusier Centre, Government Museum and Art Gallery among others.
How To Get There: By Air (Chandigarh International Airport), Rail and Road.

AMRITSAR
The city very close to the India-Pakistan border conjures the image of the regal Golden Temple, the tragedy at Jallianwala Bagh (where the freedom fighters were protesting and were massacred by the British Indian forces in 1919) and the ceremony at Wagah Border closeby. This old city is the home to various shrines, temples and places of historical interest.

WAGAH-ATTARI BORDER
Around 35 km (and an hour by cab) from the Golden Temple Gate in Amritsar is this India-Pakistan Border gate, that is widely used by the visitors from both the countries visit their near and dear ones across the border. The gate is opened from 10 am to 4 pm. The highlight of the visit to the border is the retreat ceremony that takes place daily at 5:15 pm in summer and 4:15 pm in the winter season. The ceremony is quite a show with the participation of the guards from both the countries at the gate accompanied by music and dancing that begins earlier.

PATIALA
The erstwhile princely state is also sometimes referred to as the “City of Newspapers”. The city has rich history and has monument with unique architecture, a blend of Rajput, Sikh and Mughal cultures. The city has also lend its name to “Patiala Peg” – a large peg of whisky reflecting the enjoy life-to-the-fullest Punjabi culture of the place.

Places To Visit: Qila Mubarak Complex, Moti Bagh Palace, Banur, Samana, Baradari Garden, Sheesh Mahal, Darbar Hall, Bir Moti Bagh Sanctuary and many more.
How To Get There: It is well connected by rail and road. The nearest airport is in Chandigarh, which is 64 km away.

JALANDHER
The city that has rich history has some of famous historical and religious sites in the state, apart from the fact that the city is mentioned in the epic Mahabharata.

Places To Visit: Imam Nasir Masjid, Tulsi Mandir, Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum, Shiv Mandir, St. Mary’s Cathedral Church, Pushpa Gujral Science City, Rangla Punjab Haveli and many more.
How To Get There: It is well connected by rail and road. The nearest airport is in Amritsar 75 km away.

KAPURTHALA
Also referred to as the “Paris of Punjab”, Kapurthala is indeed a beautiful city with amazing architecture and lovely gardens. The city has great historical and religious significance, as it was here that Guru Nanak attained enlightenment in 1499.

Places To Visit: The Jagatjit Palace, Jagatjit Club, Elysee Palace, Panj Mandir, Kanjli Wetland, Shalimar Garden, Nihal Palace, Moorish Mosque among others.
How To Get There: It is well connected by rail and road. The nearest airport is in Amritsar, which 83 km away.
