Ladakh Experience
Ladakh is the land of high passes blessed with natural beauty any other place in the world would envy. In ancient times it was an important outpost in the important silk route trade. Much of that richness esp. in culture and heritage is still very much reflective in the present day Ladakh. Not much else needs to be said about Ladakh. A landscape vastly different from anything imaginable. Though so much has been talked and written about it that most people have an idea of the place, yet nothing can prepare you for what to expect the moment the door of the aircraft opens and this land opens its arms to you.
What is a lifetime adventure for you is a daily routine for us.

Experience
Its awe inspiring no matter how much you’ve heard or read about it.
Vegetation has suddenly given way to a dry arid landscape from which tall snowcapped mountains tower so suddenly almost like a bully reminding of his dominating presence. This land of passes is live entertainment from the time you step out of the aircraft to the time you get back into it!
But it doesn’t end here as there’s much more in its people, the culture, the heritage and history. The natural richness is further accentuated by the flora and fauna, and in particular the elusive snow leopard that has made its home in Ladakh as well.
It is needless to say that Ladakh is the Mecca of adventure, trekking and mountaineering with amazing and yet difficult terrain, passes and mountain peaks.
And while you are busy doing that you will come across a pristine blue salt water lake and a cold desert with double humped Bactrian camels.
Now what could be more surreal than that?
Such beauty is never easily accessible and that’s a fact. Though flying is an easier option but you will miss all the surreal beauty on the way to Ladakh. Situated at an altitude of 3500m plus and treacherous roads that are closed for most of the time of the year, maintained painstakingly by the brave soldiers of the Indian army (BRO – Border Roads Organization). It takes two days by road, an uncomfortable high altitude journey characterized with bumps, obstacles and occasional mountain sickness.
As somebody said, “getting there isn’t easy and that’s the best part.”
But once you have reached, there is a plethora of things to do, from adventure to culture, from trekking to biking, from monasteries to snow leopards and more.
Following is a glimpse of all the experiences in Ladakh (details to be provided on request).
So go ahead and take your pick.
Further, if you have a request please let us know and we will customize and organize for you.

Walking on Frozen river of Zanskar is an ultimate experience for adventure lovers. The scenery through the canyons is once in a life-time experience. The traditional name of the trek is “Chadar trek” the frozen blanket of ice. Large sections of the river Zanskar, which is one of the mightiest rivers in Ladakh, freeze over in the dead of winter and are covered by a thick blanket of ice as used by the Zanskari people for centuries for trade and transportation, and is most reliable in February when the ice is most stable and snowfall closes many of the mountain passes and makes the few roads treacherous. The trek commences from the village of Chiling located very close to the confluence of Indus and the Zanskar River. From Chilling to the Zanskar valley the river is confined within a steep canyon. Now a days this route is also famous as winter trekking among serious adventure lovers for last several years. The coldest temperatures may shudder your bodies in the mornings when the temperatures are often at their lowest. Although pleasant on clear sunny days, the weather conditions can change abruptly, with wind temperatures known to plummet minus 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. Chiling and Lingshed are the only sizeable villages on this trek, all the rest are names of places and caves along the route.

RIVER RAFTING:
River rafting in Indus and Zanskar rivers is a different thrill.
The Indus River rafting offers a spectacular river rafting course along with camps at interesting locations. Much easier and quieter than the Zanskar, the Indus is suitable for Grade II and III trips. The river, which originates in Tibet, flows down through Ladakh, past Leh, and then flows into Pakistan. Rafting in Zanskar is where the rapids and adrenaline take a different high.
All in all a must do when in Ladakh. Completely memorable experience.
VOLUNTEERING:
We can also arrange volunteering work in the villages nearby and various projects. Those interested can help villagers in the farms or be of some assistance at local schools. All this to add to the authentic Ladakh flavor.

- Spend the day exploring the Buddhist heritage of Ladakh. Leh to Shey Palace: 13 km/25 min After breakfast start drive towards Shey Monastery. The Shey Monastery or Gompa and the Shey Palace complex are structures located on a hillock in Shey, 15 km (9.3 mi) to the south of Leh in Ladakh, northern India on the Leh-Manali road. Shey was the summer capital of Ladakh in the past. It contains a huge Shakyamuni Buddha statue. It is the second largest Buddha statue in Ladakh. The original palace, now in ruins, was built near the Shey village by Lhachen Palgyigon, the king of Ladakh (then called Maryul), in the 10th century. The Moghul noble Mirza Haidar Dughlat stayed here during his invasion of Ladakh in the 16th century. The current Shey Palace and Monastery were also built in 1655 on the instructions of Deldan Namgyal, in the memory of his late father, Sengge Namgyal, below the first palace. The monastery is noted for its giant copper with gilded gold statue of a seated Shakyamuni Buddha. The statue is so named since Buddha was the sage (muni) of the Sakya people who resided in the Himalayan foothills and their capital was Kapilvastu. It is said to be the second largest such statue in Ladakh. Shey Palace to Thiksey Monastery: 6 km/10 min After visiting Shey, drive towards Thikse Gompa or Thikse Monastery (also transliterated from Ladakhi as Tiksey, Thiksey or Thiksay) is a gompa (Tibetan-style monastery) affiliated with the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
